Pawel Gruntowski

Wine, Spirits and Sake Educator

After earning degrees in English Literature and PR in his native Poland, Pawel worked as a teacher and translator. Relocation to Uruguay soon changed the course of his career as he enrolled in a sommelier program at the University of the Republic in Montevideo. Travels to the major wine regions of South America and work at wine events inspired Pawel to jump into deep water and move to London in 2012. There, he worked at the International Wine Challenge and Decanter Magazine and completed WSET Level 3 Award in Wines qualification.

In 2015 Pawel joined a renowned Spanish winery as export director and spent three years developing their Central and Eastern Europe as well as Nordic markets from the Berlin office.

Having enrolled in WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits course, Pawel established Berlin Wine School as an Approved Program Provider for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.

A graduate of the Japan Sake and Shochu Academy in Tokyo with Certified Sake Sommelier qualification from the Sake Sommelier Association in London under his belt, he is also a Certified Sake Educator.

Pawel hopes to be the leading provider of wine, spirits and sake education in Germany for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
